Sulabh Swachh Bharat - NO GIRL! NO WOMAN! THUS NO LIFE

It’s a high time that we treat a girl child equally and give her same rights as that of her brother

Kofi Annan once said “There is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women.”
Since 2008, India has celebrated National Girl Child Day on January 24th every year, to raise awareness and consciousness of the society with respect to the girl child.
On this day in 1966, the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was sworn in as the first woman Prime Minister of India. Indira Gandhi was hailed as an icon of women power and hence this historic day is a perfect choice to celebrate the national girl child day.
The National Girl Child Day, was started to offer more support and new opportunities to the girls in the country. Inequality and girl child is a vast problem which includes many areas like inequality in education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, protection, honour, child marriage, domestic violence, sexual harassment in public spaces, as well as the workplace, and so on.
It is celebrated to promote the girls position in society to make their lives better. It is very necessary to remove different kinds of social discrimination and exploitation that girls generally face in their life. To increase the awareness about the necessity of the girls right in society, various political and community leaders speak about the girls right for equal education and fundamental freedoms.
It is necessary for girls to fulfil their potential. They should be aware of all their legal rights and the facts of life. They should be aware that they have a right to good education, nutrition and health care rights. They should be well aware about legislation including Domestic Violence Act 2009, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 and Dowry Prohibition Act 2006 in order to get their legitimate rights and face all the challenges in life.
It is very clear that a girl child always becomes a blessing for the society and reason for the continuation of life in this world. We worship many female goddesses at various festivals but we never feel the need to be kind to the women living in our home. Truly, girls are pillars of society. A girl child can be a good daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother and other good relationships in the future. If we kill them before taking birth or do not care after taking birth then how we will get a daughter, sister, wife or mother in future. Has anyone of us has ever thought what will happen if women refuse to give birth to a baby or give all responsibility of their motherhood to men. Will men be  able to take up all the responsibilities? If not then why girls are killed, why they considered a curse, why are they a burden to their parents or society. Why the eyes are not being open of the people even after many surprised truth and facts about girls.
Adolescence is a critical phase in a girl’s life when she is on the threshold of womanhood. There are several needs and concerns which require to be addressed, including those of health, nutrition and education. The adolescent girls needs to be informed and empowered to be able to face the challenges of life such as the issue of Domestic Violence, Child Marriage, and Dowry etc.
The practice of early marriage and child-bearing that persists puts adolescent girls and their children at increased risk of adverse outcomes. Adolescent girls are harbingers of the next generation; they can transform not only their own lives but also the lives of every member of their family and the wider society around them. An investment in their well-being and development is also an investment in the well-being of the country.
The fight for equal rights is surely a tough one; however, we need to focus on the protection of our sisters and daughters, putting an end to the constant discrimination against them in everyday life--some of which begins even before they are born.

Sulabh Swachh Bharat - CLIMBING STAIRS REDUCE HYPERTENSION

Try climbing stairs as much possible if you find aerobics or resistance-training exercises to be tedious, as it may not only reduce high blood pressure problems but also build leg strength, especially in older women, claimed a new research

New York: Postmenopausal women with estrogen deficiencies are more susceptible to vascular and muscle problems. Climbing stairs may offers them the benefits of both aerobic and resistance exercise. It may not only improve cardiorespiratory fitness, but also leg muscle strength without their having to leave the house or pay a fee.

It also offers the additional benefits of lowering blood pressure and arterial stiffness -- thickening and stiffening of the arterial wall -- fat loss, improved lipid profiles, and reduced risk of osteoporosis, the findings showed.

"This study demonstrates how simple lifestyle interventions such as stair climbing can be effective in preventing or reducing the negative effects of menopause and age on the vascular system and leg muscles of postmenopausal women with hypertension," said JoAnn Pinkerton, Executive Director at the North American Menopausal Society in Cleveland, US.

For the study, published in the journal Menopause, the researchers surveyed over postmenopausal women who were trained four days a week and climbed 192 steps two to five times a day. The results showed that stair climbing led to reductions in arterial stiffness and blood pressure and increases in leg strength in stage 2 hypertensive postmenopausal women.

sulabh swachh bharat - ANIL KHAITAN INDUSTRIALIST AND A GOOD SAMARITAN

Anil Khaitan is currently the president of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, but his heart lies in developing a healthy nation for a healthy economy

This is grassroots. This is where it all starts. The earlier approach to national development planning often alienated and isolated implementation for the rural masses. On the other hand, those formulated and executed for and at the grassroots, aka local communities, often thrive.
One such grassroots ‘messiah’ silently working in two most basic, yet deprived, fields of necessity – healthcare and sanitation, which should ideally be equivalent to the entire humanity – is Anil Khaitan, the president of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Born in the city which is headquarter to Mother Teresa’s ‘Missionaries of Charity’ – Calcutta (now Kolkata) – this humane gentleman had decided  to give back to the society.
With the New Year of 1956 began the life and journey of philanthropist Anil Khaitan. He did his initial schooling in Calcutta, shifted to an American boarding school in Mussoorie in 1963, and then returned to his city of birth in 1970 to complete his schooling. He graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta, and then mastered the art of business from IMI Geneva. Much before he completed his MBA in 1981, Khaitan had  stepped into his family business.
It was not till 1984 that Khaitan left his birth place to look after the speciality paper mill in Chandigarh. Thereafter he started building a copper smelter and refinery in Bharuch district of Gujarat and finally settled down in Delhi in 1992 to look after the growth of his multiple businesses.
With many businesses to handle at once, one more responsibility landed on his able shoulders when he became the President of India’s apex commerce and industry body PHD Chamber. The strong leadership of PHD is making a huge difference in the development and the growth of the country, and leading from the front is the dynamic president Anil Khaitan.
Prior to becoming the President of the PHD Chamber, Khaitan was its Senior Vice President. He also holds various offices, such as member of World Presidents’ Organisation, institutional member of All Indian Management Association, among others.
Today, Anil Khaitan’s name is taken in the chart of country’s most talented entrepreneurs with great respect. This 60-year-old has a lot of experience in jute, paper, medicine, copper and steel industry. Khaitan is a big analyst of the country’s economic situations and plans. He has been pitching for the country on economic and financial fronts, especially after becoming the president of the PHD Chamber board.
He has always had a great zeal to learn and experience Nature and life around him. His favourite quote “The only thing perfect in the world is Nature” has been truly followed by him in his personal and professional life. Despite too much on his plate, Khaitan never overlooked his responsibility towards the society. His belief on giving back has stood strong, which is reflected in the projects undertaken by the various companies under his wings.
His forte is healthcare and sanitation. As a part of the Sunil Healthcare family, he has put in all his efforts as managing director towards healthcare initiatives. Free medicines are a blessing that Sunil Healthcare-run NGOs are dispensing to the poor of Rajasthan. As sanitation is directly related to healthcare, Khaitan couldn’t overlook the major lag in such essential field. So, next up on agenda was sanitation, which took shape of a mission to uplift the downtrodden and sanitise the ‘dhanis’ (a type of hamlet, the smallest conglomeration of houses, which are smaller than villages) of Alwar district of Rajasthan. This sanitation drive has today resulted in freeing three villages from open-defecation.
Khaitan believes in combining commerce and enterprise with the all-round development of the society. He is of the view that from cleanliness to education to employment, the business sector can play a big role in various fields. A constructive role played by a business can result in expected social upliftment at par with desired standards.
A very bullish Khaitan believes, “We Indians have to bring 20 per cent of India into our mental psyche. We must know our duties towards India rather than only our rights. Both duties and rights are two sides of a coin.”

Patanjali to Invest in Five Nagaland Institutions

Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth will set up five professional institutions in Nagaland

Kohima, Jan 20: Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth will set up five professional institutions in Nagaland.
The foundation stones for the five institutes - Engineering College at Hevukhu, Ayurvedic College, Para Medical & Nursing College, Management College and an Institute of Fashion Technology - were unveiled at a programme held at Punglwa under Peren district recently.

Baba Ramdev said that the there was no political or religious agenda behind the initiative to set up the institutions but purely designed to help develop Nagaland in education as well as health sectors.
Experiencing the deplorable roads of Nagaland in his recent visit, Ramdev said that no matter how good the institution was, it would be of no value if the condition of roads remained the same. He said any development in Nagaland would be meaningless without good road infrastructure.

In this aspect, he asked the Nagaland government to make sure that the roads were properly repaired and asserted that he would help in bringing progress in the State.
About the aim of the institutions, Ramdev stated that quality education would be provided so that students need not go to mainland for higher education.
Ramdev’s close confidant Acharya Bal Krishna assured of establishing a high-end hospital along with the five institutions in Nagaland. He said the hospital and the institutions would cater to people not only from the Northeast, but from other States as well.

He added that the people from outside would not only experience quality education and health services, but also witness the natural beauty of Nagaland.
Chief Minister TR Zeliang thanked Swami Ramdev and Acharya Bal Krishna for their noble gesture of investing in Nagaland for projects that were of utmost importance for the youth of the State.
He said the decision to start five professional colleges by Patanjali Yogpeeth would go a long way in bringing quality education to Nagaland and help local youth acquire skills that would enable them to find sustainable livelihoods. He said the State government was delighted to provide land for the projects in the fervent hope that work on these projects would start soon.

“As we all know, Patanjali today has become an institution and is regarded as one of the fastest growing enterprises in the world,” he remarked.

The chief minister said Baba Ramdev, also known as the Yoga Guru, along with Acharya Bal Krishna had made Patanjali a household name in just about 12 years not only in India but the world.
Zeliang added that the five upcoming institutions would have the potential to become centres of excellence not only in Nagaland, but also in the entire Northeast.
Zeliang said the initiative of the State government to provide land to Patanjali for investment had the potential of becoming a model public-private- partnership.

Sulabh Swachh Bharat tells about BABA RAMDEV: “GREAT SAINT, GREAT YOGI, GREAT SOCIAL WORKER”

There are very few people in this world who do selfless work, who do not think about the benefits they may acquire from others and who dedicate their lives to social service. One among such magnanimous persons is yoga guru Baba Ramdev, a well-known saint, master yogi and experienced social worker

This world is much like a fair, to which people come for an excursion. You will find different kinds of people here. Some are here to explore, some to enjoy. Some are lost in their own self and then there are some whose sole purpose of existence is to serve others instead of focusing exclusively on their own enjoyment or pleasures and desires. There are very few people in this world who do selfless deeds, who do not think about the benefit they will acquire from others and who dedicate their lives to social service. One among such magnanimous people is Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, a well-known saint, master yogi and experienced social worker.
Who are Saints?
Those people who have controlled their desires and consume the lowest of natural resources, who sacrifice worldly pleasure, showing a great degree of holiness and sanctity are called saints. Baba Ramdev sleeps on the floor, wears minimal clothes, eats furgally, and being unmarried, he becomes completely devoted to the service of society by controlling his personal desires. In such a way, he is a great saint.
Why is Baba Ramdev a ‘Great Yogi’?
In India, people have knowledge of yoga since the Vedic period and there has been tradition of yoga in India since then, but for some time, the focus on yoga has been neglected and only few people were practising it. The credit goes to Baba Ramdev for bringing back yoga in a comprehensive way among people or as it is widely said, Baba Ramdev has revived yoga in the world. He gave knowledge to the public about how one can keep one’s self healthy through the practice of yoga. He did not just talk but showed and taught people by doing yoga. Thousands of people took part in Baba Ramdev’s camps, but more than that there are people who like Eklavya became disciples of the yoga guru and practised yoga every day without even seeing him in real life. Those who have not seen Baba Ramdev or took part in his camps just follow his yoga techniques by watching his videos and CDs. Ramdev has taken yoga to the masses, both in the domestic market and internationally. He has taken this training of the mind, body and soul, first practiced by ancient Indian saints, and turned it into a daily ritual in everyone’s life.
Why is Baba Ramdev a ‘Great Social Worker’?
Baba Ramdev is providing pure food, medicine from natural components, and chemicals-free products to the public, which is something that the government should have done but failed to do. Today, where medicines and foodgrains are full of chemicals, Ramdev is providing Patanjali products which are being made through ayurvedic, organic and natural resources, without any harmful ingredients in them. As food and medicines are the first priority of any person so it should be pure and harmless. Abroad, governments keep an eye on this, that their citizens should not get food and medicines which carry harmful chemicals. There is provision for heavy penalties if any company is found guilty in this process. The social service Ramdev is providing in the form of his Patanjali products is not an easy task. It requires hard work and dedication to provide such natural products to the masses. That’s why Baba Ramdev is a great social worker.
"baar baar gahi charan sankochee, chalee bichaari bibudh mati pochee.
oonch nivaasu neechi karatootee, dekhi na sakahin parai bibhooti."

The meaning of this shlok from Ramchartimanas is true to its sense. I can relate it to my own life experience and even to Baba Ramdev’s life. People can’t say a single word to praise someone but will take an hour to criticise others. Rather than appreciating Ramdev’s commendable work and social service, people keep accusing him every now and then.
For the past 15-20 days, I had a pain in my leg, I was quite upset, and so I popped two tablets of Baba Ramdev’s Giloy Ghan Vati. Two hours after consuming it, I felt better and relaxed. I had earlier taken other medicines for the pain but nothing worked. For the first time I have had consumed Patanjali’s product and I was very impressed by it. I had also consulted my Jyotishacharya S. Bhattacharya regarding it, so he suggested getting a check-up once. A great man like Baba Ramdev is very rare to find in this time, who sacrifices worldly pleasures solely for social service. People have begun to envy him and his success and started saying that he became a money-maker and a pure businessman. Baba Ramdev is doing nothing for himself, whatever money comes from his products goes to the trust, which is used in the interest of the society. A businessman is the one who works for himself, but whatever Baba Ramdev is doing, it is for the country and in public interest. There is another example in the same context. When Neil Armstrong returned from the moon, people asked him about his experience and that he must be feeling very good. Then Neil Armstrong said that going to the moon was a pleasant feeling but had I known that after returning from the moon, my friends would stop talking to me, I would have never gone. Similarly, when a postman brought a letter to Sherlock Holmes, the latter read it and then kept it aside. His friends sitting next to him asked Sherlock that you haven’t given any reaction to the letter, what is the letter about? He responded that a murder has happened and the government wants me to solve the mystery. His friends replied “this is a good thing that government wants you to help them, go and solve the murder case” on which Sherlock answered: “I don’t like to do government’s work. I will solve the murder mystery and government will say it has solved the mystery.” His friends said, “So what, the government will praise you for that.” On this, Sherlock said that people always distance themselves from praising others. They think praising others will lessen their own importance. If someone is praising anybody, then understand that the person who is praising is greater than the person who is being praised. Praising others in this society is a difficult task.” I agree with Sherlock Holmes because this has been my personal experience. I built two-pit toilet back in 1968, but whenever the government talks about it, they never mention my name along with it as if it is their own invention. The previous government created One-pit toilets between 1986 and 2008, in which money was wasted because its benefits were not seen by the people. Now the government has adopted the two-pit but never mentions Sulabh’s name.
He has written books which explain in detail about the system of Yoga, acupressure and the role of some medicinal plants in curing the diseases. Some of the famous books written by him are:
Aushadh Darshan
Pranayama Rahasya
Yoga Sadhana evam
Yoga Chikitsa Rahasya
Jeevaniya and Vayasthapan

Besides the books, a large number of DVDs which help the individuals practice yoga at home are available in the market. Undoubtedly, Baba Ramdev has an important role in reviving Yoga and making it famous all over the world and he can be aptly called as the Yoga Guru.
Sulabh swachh Bharat tells about life experience of Baba Ramdev’s life.
